Protecting Your Valuables
If you have a lot of high-value items in your home, shopping for home insurance can be more complicated than getting a quick quote online.
Most insurers limit how much they will pay out on a single item, so even if your overall cover is enough to replace the contents of your home, individual items worth more than around £1000 may not be covered if you need to make a claim.
Even when they do offer higher cover, some insurers may require you to pay a high excess on any claims for high-value items, or may include terms that are impractical or inconvenient – for example only covering your expensive watch when it is in your safe, not on your wrist!
That is why if you have a number of high value items, such as jewellery, artworks, antiques or expensive tech, you could really benefit from some specialist advice.
Internet insurance providers are only able to provide cover on a ‘non-advice’ basis, so they won’t be able to advise you on the best cover to suit your needs. You will need to navigate the wide range of home insurance products and optional extras on offer yourself, which can be a confusing.
At Watkin Davies, we’ve been arranging home insurance for over 40 years, which is why we feel we are the right broker to help you every step of the way.
