New Office in Newport
We officially opened our brand-new SA Cutler office in Newport city centre last Friday, with a celebration for clients and staff.
The new office, in the prestigious Kings Hotel building, offers staff and clients the opportunity to do business in comfortable surroundings using the latest technology.
Watkin Davies took over insurance broker S A Cutler in 2011 after its founder, Simon Cutler, sadly passed away. The business is a long-established insurance broker, serving the Newport area since 1979.
Watkin Davies Managing Director, Gina Dixon, said: “Simon Cutler had established a broker that provided the kind of personal, local service that we value as a company, so we wanted to keep the company name in recognition of that.
"The move to the new office reflects the importance we place on SA Cutler in our growth plans for Newport and the surrounding area. We hope that the dynamic new surroundings will help us move the business forward, whilst retaining the values that have led to its success to date."
"We are pleased to be bucking the trend of brokers moving out of the city. We understand that Cardiff and Newport offer different markets. When we took over SA Cutler, it was important to us to retain the local staff, who have the experience and expertise to serve this market and provide continuity to its existing customers."
SA Cutler’s Commercial Account Executive, Ben Tweddle, typifies how access to this local knowledge has benefitted the business. "Having worked in Newport most of his career, Ben is perfectly placed to understand the needs of the business community locally," said Gina.
The former 61-bedroom Kings Hotel, which houses the new office, was closed as a hotel in 2012. The landmark building lay empty for two years before being bought and redeveloped by a Shire Hall Ltd. It has now been fully restored and converted into luxury apartments and commercial space in the centre of Newport.
